NWA Powerrr 4/16/2024

NWA Powerrr 4/16/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/nwa-powerrr-492024.html

The Fixers (Jay Bradley and Wrecking Ball Legursky) vs Tim Storm and J.A.C.

Jay chops JAC in the corner and JAC chops back. Jay clubs his back and kneelifts him. WBL and Tim go at it. Tim forearms him then hits nice punches. Tim elbows him in the head. WBL clubs JAC's back then spinning full-nelson drops him. WBL hip attacks JAC. Tim hits lariats on WBL then hits corner punches.

Tim hits a kick to the side of the head the neckbreakers him for 1. WBL uppercuts and headbutts him. Tim iron claws him then WBL slams Tim. WBL headbutt drops Tim for 2. Tim is beaten up in the corner then Jay slams Tim. Jay knee drops Tim then clubs him on the apron.

Jay and Tim trade. Jay face kicks Tim in the corner then WBL splashes Tim. WBL misses a headbutt drop. JAC gets in and hits leg kicks on WBL. JAC hits kicks and is hit from Jay. JAC step up enzugiri's Jay then WBL blocks JAC's german.

JAC gets swatted off the crossbody attempt by WBL. WBL hits a world's strongest slam on JAC and wins it.

It was decent heavyweight tag here. JAC has a decent size and if he can work on making his offense look a little better he might be alright. WBL had a good showing here.

Kyle Davis interviews Natalia Markova. She fights Kenzie Page next week. She said she's an awesome wrestling and deserves to be champ, but says she (Natalya) deserves it more. Natalya says Page knows she can beat her. She says let's have a great fight.

Miss Starr vs Taylor Rising

Starr has a neckbrace on with sequin and keeps it on as the match starts. Starr hits forearms and chops outside. Starr is sent int othe post. TR jumps off the apron, Starr can't really catch her and Starr's head bangs off the floor. TR spinning headscissors her then bulldogs her out of the casadora.

TR misses a twisting crossbody off the buckles. TR's head is banged off the mat and buckles. TR spinnign forearms her. She goes for a baseball slide then is powerbombed on the apron. Starr pushes TR's head into the concrete floor.

TR hair throws her. Starr corner splashes her. TR boots her in the gut and ends up rolling her up to win it.

It was an odd one here with Starr wrestling with a neckbrace. They didn't really make what they could have of that situation. The move on the floor here was super dangerous and I don't like them wrestling without real mats out there.

Kenzie Page does a promo. She said Markova is tough, strong and crazy but she can't get the job done when it matters most. She said Markova has been handed everything but dropped the ball every time. She said she's not built like a champ. She said every time Markova thinks she has an idea, she will outsmart her. She said the 1-2-3 will go to Page. She said she will have the title while Markova looks at the lights.

Vampiro is interviewed. He is asked about Alex Misery and Mecha Wolf. Vamp doesn't seem to know what he's talking about and has his finger in his ear. The segment then ends.

NWA World Tag Titles - Blunt Force Trauma (Carnage and Damage) (c) vs The Immortals (Odinson and JR Kratos)

The Immortals are the NWA US Tag champs coming into this but have to give up the belts for a shot at the world tag titles. I'm not a big fan of that as it makes the titles seem worthless. BFT come out to a cool song that sounds like a remix of Lex Luger's 1991 theme. Damage has the tattoos.

JR gets on the mic. He said his gear bag was stolen today and blames Aaron Stevens for it (the manager of BFT). JR said The Immortals are here and will fight for the titles.  Stevens tells them to think about reliquinishing the titles. He said the people like them because they don't know when to quit, just like the fans. He asks if they are thinking of giving the titles up and they say yes.

BFT then jumps Immortals. BFT are whipped into each other then take stereo lariats. We go to break and return. Stevens is cornered by Immortals and BFT save him. Carnage is lariated over the top and Damage takes an enzugiri.

JR does a wild suicide dive over the top, taking out both BFT members. Damage hits shots on Odin and misses a splash. Odin jumping euros him in the back of the neck. Odin then does that off the 2nd rope for 2. JR chops Damage then release suplexes him.

Stevens distracts JR then Damage powerbombs JR. Carnage stomps on JR then hits mounted shots. Stevens chokes JR on the bottom rope then Carnage stomps on JR. Carnage corner spears JR then Damage double axe handles JR.

Carnage snapmares and chinlocks JR. JR back elbows Carnage then boots him in the corner. Carnage hiptosses him then JR jumping back enzugiri's Carnage. Odin gets tagged in and euros both opponents. Odin exploders Carnage then F-5's Damage onto Carnage. Odin jackhammers Carnage for 2.

JR powerslams Damage then Damage pulls JR out. Kratos is sent into the post. Odin nails Stevens on the apron then Carnage hits a nice dropkick on Odin. Carnage picks up the win.

It was a solid main here with four heavies going at it. Not great or anything but it was believable and they didn't overdo it. Odin really has weird offense as he mostly sticks to doing euros.

Overall thoughts: It was a decent show. The main and the opener were both solid. The women's match was weird and Starr is lucky she didn't really get hurt out there with the bump on the floor. I'm still not sure what they are doing with Vampiro and they did an okay job of selling me on Markova vs Page.

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/15/2024

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/15/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/wwe-monday-night-raw-482024.html

We see Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso and Damian Priest arrive.

Rhea Ripley comes out with her arm in a sling. she said her arm got injured in an attack from Liv Morgan. She said she'll be out for a few months and said she will have to vacate the women's title. She said the title means the most to her in her life.

She said this is due to Liv's stupid revenge tour. She said she would have had some respect for her if she did it face to face but she blindsided her like a coward. She said when she comes back, she is coming back for blood. She said they will have to lock her up in jail when she finds Liv.

Liv Morgan comes out and security tries to hold her back. Somehow, 6 males can't accomplish this. The guards then hold Rhea back. Rhea headbutts a guard and the segment ends.

I'm not surprised Rhea is injured. Liv really hit her hard with a chair and sent her into the wall hard.

We see a silhouette of Sheamus who they say will be on next.

Rhea goes up Judgment Day in the back. They hug her. Priest says he knows she will make Liv regret messing with her and will be more bad@ss than she is now. They say they love her and she says to keep Judgment Day on top.

I mean they could keep Rhea in just a managerial role but I guess they don't want to.

Sheamus vs Ivar

Sheamus side headlocks him then they trade shoulders. They trade forearms and Sheamus shoulders him over. Ivar stunners him over the top rope. Ivar goes up top and takes a 2nd rope air raid crash.

We go to break and return. Sheamus slams him then clubs Ivar's chest on the ropes. Ivar boots him out of the corner and spinning heel kicks him. Ivar hits a top rope splash for 2. Ivar pounds on him in the corner then Sheamus hits punches back.

Ivar knees him in the gut then springboards into a Sheamus pumping knee. Sheamus pumping knees him then hits a pump kick for the win.

What we got looked good here. Some of the execution wasn't that great but I liked the general idea of this.

Sheamus moves the commentary table spilling a drink then grabs both announcers, hugging them. We then get a replay of this.

Triple H comes out with Adam Pearce. Triple H said 8 days ago was the biggest Mania of all time. Pearce said we walked out with two sets of tag champs and we need new tag titles for the new era. Awesome Truth comes out. The crowd chants "you deserve it". Truth then does a split.

Triple H says what's up and congratulates them. He said they made history in the biggest tag match in history. He said it was awesome to see Truth have a Wrestlemania Moment. Triple H said they need to represent the tag titles in a new era. He said they will be known as the World Tag Team Champions. He then shows them the new belts. They look a lot like the Raw Title belt and with some red stripes on them with the title names.

Truth said he has seen rabbits come out of a hat and seen a lady get cut in and half and walk away. But he says he has never seen a trick like that. Truth said Triple H made titles appear out of thin oxygen. He said he knows a good magician when he sees one. Miz says he's not a magician and Truth says that's what a magician would say. He said he doesn't trust magicians after Little Jimmy. He said everyone used to be able to see Little Jimmy.

Miz says these title belts are what they wanted. Miz talks about Triple H and Truth asks where Triple H is. Truth says this houdini got Miz fooled too. He then says "I see right through you, Tomasso Ciampa". Miz talks in French to Truth. Truth understands him and is surprised to find out the new titles are theirs. Triple H asks if he can just go. He then takes the old titles and gives the new titles to Awesome Truth. Truth and Miz then hold up the titles. Pearce asks them why they made the boss leave the ring. Truth says what boss? Pearce says Triple H and Truth said Triple H is not out here.

Pearce said they need to figure out who their first challenger will be. He said there will be a triple threat #1 contenders match right now.

I'm not a fan of the new titles as it looks like the Raw title and I don't really like that design. I think there's just too much going on and it looks like a golden pizza. I also don't like Truth not knowing it was Triple H. That's just going too far over the top.

#1 Contenders Match - The Creed Brothers vs DIY vs The New Day (Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston)

BC = Brutus Creed, JC = Julius Creed, JG = Johnny Gargano

3 men will be in the ring here at all times and you can only tag in your partner. DIY still has DX colors on. Woods hits corner punches on BC then JG does as well. BC forearms JG then Woods rolls him up. JG rolls up Woods then BC rolls up JG and swings him at Woods. BC hits a double clothesline.

New Day misses a double dropkick then knock The Creed's off the apron. DIX hits planchas on The Creed's, get caught, then New Day tope con hilo them. We go to break and return. Kofi, Ciampa and JC are fighting on their knees and trading shots.

JC and Ciampa trade forearms. JC hits a jumping knee then takes one from Ciampa. Woods top rope dropkicks BC ten JG slingshot spears Woods. JC epxloders Kofi then Kofi gets his knees up on JC's tanding moonsault. JG superkicks JC then buzzsaw kicks Kofi. Kofi takes a double kic kin the corner then JG apron cannonballs opponents. Kofi takes a powerbomb backbreaker on the knees from Ciampa for 2.

Woods jump off the bottom rope to ddt Ciampa. Woods then hits an honor roll on JG. Woods spinning forearms BC. Woods sends Ciampa into the post shoulder first hten holds him for a Kofi fameasser for 2. JC belly to belly suplexes Kofi then does the same to Woods coming off the top. JC release germans Ciampa. The Creeds then hit stereo suplexes for 2.

BC is pushed off the top into a superkick on the floor from Woods. JC jumps up to the top rope, superplexes Kofi then Woods elbow drops him off the top. Woods takes a meet in the middle and is pinned.

It was a fast paced spotty match as expected. They kept it moving here faster than I could really type it up and it was all action packed.

Drew McIntyre is interviewed. He laughs at the footage from last week with Punk costing his the #1 contenders match. Jackie said she wasn't expecting this reaction. Drew then kicks a tv over.

Indi Hartwell and Candice LaRae vs Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile

Ivy side headlocks Indi. Ivy rides her back then sunset flips her. Ivy dropkicks her then spinning enzugiri's her. Max top rope crossbodies Indi then hits a perfectplex for 2. Max has words for CL then Indi lariats Max.

CL pounds on Max and bangs her head off the mat. CL foot chokes Max in the corner. CL pounds on Max in the corner. Max misses an enzugiri then knees CL in the gut. Max ddt's CL. Ivy argues with the ref. Indi face kicks Max when she isn't the legal person and CL pins Max.

The finish was okay here as it continues the slow burn of CL and Indi turning heel. It also kind of fits with what Max is doing. They heavily pushed multiple times that Max is improving and training.

They do a video package on Damian Priest. He used to be fat and he said he was homeless 10 years ago.

We see Priest talking to Judgment Day. Priest says they still run the WWE. He tells Dom he will teach Andrade a lesson. He says JD will have his back and says they will get this done. Finn says their focus should be on getting the tag titles back. Priest says Finn needs to focus on tonight and needs him to teach the meaning of the word loss. He says he will teach Jey the meaning of the word pain at Backlash.

They definitely did this to push Priest as the leader here.

We see Jackie Redmond trying to interview Chad Gable earlier. Chad was training with The Creed's in the ring. Chad said winning the IC title is everything. He said his mood is high and he's excited. Jackie asks how he's prepared for the crowd cheering Sami. He said not one person wanted him to win at the olympic trials. He said Sami showed his weaknesses while they trained together and Chad said he will expose them.

Andrade vs Dominik Mysterio

Dom chops him and hides between the ropes. Dom boots him and side headlocks him. Andrade shoulders him over. Andrade top rope crossbodies him for 2. Andrade hits 2 of 3 amigos then Dom goes for it. Dom hits some then Andrade finally hits the 3rd suplex. Andrade goes up top and is crotched up there when JD gets on the apron. Dom poses on the ropes and we go to break.

We return and Andrade dragon screws him. Andrade flying forearms him then meteora's him in the corner. Andrade misses a splitlegged top rope moonsault. Dom kicks the rope in Andrande's crotch then hits a canadian destroyer on the apron. Dom then gets a 2 count on it.

Dom dropkicks him in the back then Andrade spinning back elbows him. Andrade nails JD on the apron then double underhook twisting ddt's Dom. Andrade wins it.

I hated this. Kicking out of destroyers on the apron is an AEW thing, not a WWE thing.

JD nails Andrade from behind then hits punches as Dom holds him. Ricochet then comes out to help after.

Jey Uso is interviewed by Cathy Kelley. He says messing with The Bloodline is going down a dark, dangerous road. He said he told Jimmy Uso to come with him but he needs to focus on Finn Balor. He said Finn Balor needs to catch this yeetdown on Raw tonight.

Piper Niven and Chelsea Green vs Katana Chance and Kayden Carter

Piper gets 2v1'd to start then she hits a double lariat. Piper cobra clutches Chance then ripcord lariats her. Green is tripped into the middle buckle then takes a double team boot/knee combo in the corner. Carter chops on Green then hits a blade runner variation. Green is on Carter's shoulders, Chance jumps off of them to crossbody Piper but is caught. Chance takes a fallaway slam and Carter does an air raid crash. Piper crossbodies Carter and Green wins.

This was a waste of all of these girls and went less than like 2 minutes.

Liv Morgan is interviewed. She is asked ifthis is the end of her revenge tour. She said she's not the bad guy and asked where the sympathy was when Rhea put her on the shelf for 8 months. She says it's an eye or an eye and a shoulder for a shoulder. She said Rhea got karma. She said this isn't the end of the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour, that happens when she becomes champ.

Cody Rhodes comes out to talk. He said we should thank Pearce because he's on Raw despite being a Smackdown star now. He said he's facing either LA Knight or AJ Styles at the next PPV. He thanks Seth for being his shield. He said he doesn't think Rock has one match left in it, he thinks he has more than that. Cody said Rock told him he would make him bleed. Cody said Rock will bleed with him if he bleeds.

He talks about Tama Tonga and Bloodline. He said Roman was nowhere to be found then brings out Jey Uso. He says Raw is about to be Jey's and said nobody deserves it more. He said he'd love to have Jey's back tonight. Jey says he has to do it alone and pushes the idea of him being champ. Cody said he understands, wishes him luck and hugs him. Cody then says "until we yeet again".

Nia Jax is interviewed by Cath Kelly. She said she doesn't care about Rhea. She said rhea was hers the last time she saw her. Nia asks who will stop her from taking the women's title now. She said Liv and Becky were hers the last time she saw them. She said there's two types of people in this world - those who fear Nia Jax, and those who learn to fear Nia Jax. She said the title is hers and no one is taking it from her.

Jey Uso vs Finn Balor

Finn jumps him from behind in the ring and pounds on him. Finn back elbows him. Jey hits shots and Finn rolls through a sunset flip with a basement dropkick. Finn side headlocks him and we see Priest watching in the back. Finn hits chops and corner spears.

Jey is pulled down off the top to the inside. Finn pounds on Jey. Finn basement dropkicks him out and we go to break. We return and Jey double boots him in the corner. Jey spinning enzugiri's him. He hits a superkick and samoan drop for 2. Priest says he's going down to say hello.

Finn elbow slices Jey for 2 then slingblades him. Jey superkicks him then Finn john woo's him in the corner. Jey spears him then wins it with a top rope splash.

It was shorter than it should have been here and they took it pretty easy. It was okay and all but not even a fraction of what they could have done here.

Damian Priest comes down on the apron and has words for Jey after. Priest holds the title up at him then Judgment Day jump Jey. Dom comes off the apron and is superkicked. Jey hits JD in the crowd and sends him into Finn. Jey then walks up the stairs in the crowd.

We see Jay arrive in the concourse and he shakes hands with fans along the way. Jey shoves one of the fans then heds outside. Sami Zayn is there and is looking up into the sky. Jey asks him what he's doing. Sami said the first show he saw in his life was here 25 years ago and now he comes in as champ. He said he walks in the way the same way he came 25 years ago. Sami walks in and throws a garbage can. Some fan in a mask gets run over by a camera man then Sami enters through the stands.

Chad Gable talks to Bronson Reed backstage. Red says whoever wins tonight won't be champ for long as the winner has to answer to him.

WWE Intercontinental Title - Sami Zayn (c) vs Chad Gable

Sami is surrounded by fans and gets a huge reaction. He then takes a Canadian flag with him. It's a cool entrance.

Sami goes for a wristlock and is tripped and side headlocked. They trade armdrags then Sami pulls him over the top. Sami teases a dive out. They go head to head and we go to break.

We return and Sami walks up the buckles and is crotched on the ropes. Sami holds his knee then Chad top rope plancha's him outside. Chad hits a top rope headbutt drop for 2. Chad dragon screws him and toe holds him. Chad double throat thursts him and Sami lariats him. Sami elbows him off the buckles then Chad rolls him up for 2. Chad ankle locks him.

Chad is rolled out to the floor then Sami arabian moonsaults him outside. We go to break and return. Chad hits a top rope olympic slam. Chad hits germans then Sami germans him. Sami germans him on his head. Chad rolling koppo kicks him and is suplexed into the buckles. Chad rolls into an ankle lock on him. Chad dives off the top and is caught with a powerbomb.

Sami's knee gives out on a sharpshooter attempt. Sami takes a release german in the buckles. Chad moonsaults and catches Sami foot off of it, putting him in an ankle lock. Chad takes an exploder into the buckles then takes a helluva kick. Sami wins.

They did a little too much here as the top rope olympic slam really should have finished things but it was a good match and the crowd was real into it. The two matched up well together and it just felt like a big match.

Sami helps Chad up after. Chad holds up Sami's arm. Sami hugs his family then Chad germans him on the floor. Chad sends Sami into the post then throws him over the commentary table. Sami is pushed into the post then Chad ankle locks him on the buckles.

I liked how they did the turn here as they hid the part where Chad thought about it, so there was no tease. I don't like Chad being turned heel though. I thought he should have won the title all along and I thought he was doing a good job as a face. It also screws up Alpha Academy now as they are all faces.

Overall thoughts: It was a good wrestling show here with a great main event and other good matches on the show. It wasn't a great night for storylines outside of the main though with not that much happening other than Rhea's title forfeit and Awesome Truth getting new tag titles.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 9/29/1990

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 9/29/1990

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-9221990.html

Vince McMahon is wearing a Hershey Kiss hat and Roddy Piper comes in. Piper says he loves chocolate and says he knows Vince does too as he's chunky in the waist and has a goober is his nose.

The Legion of Doom vs Bobby Salza and Ron Cumberledge

The jobbers get nailed then both take gorilla press slams to start. Animal clubs on Ron then powerslams him. Animal corner lariats him then hiptosses him. Bobby comes in and is dropped then Hawk jumps off the top and punches Bobby. Hawk flying shoulders bobby then fist drops him.

Hawk hits a gutwrench suplex then face kicks Bobby. Animal standing dropkicks Bobby then uppercuts him. Hawk single leg dropkicks Bobby then Bobby takes a doomsday device. Hawk pins Bobby to win it.

It was a total squash here with the jobbers getting jumped at the bell and getting nothing in.

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

They talk about Heenan insulting Boss Man's mom. We see clips from Wrestling Challenge. Boss goes up to Bobby Heenan on commentary. Boss said he warned him to stop talking about his mom and Heenan apologizes. Boss grabs him and tells Vince not t get in his way. Boss handcuffs Heenan and says he's going to jail. Heenan is yanked off the stage and bumps on the concrete. Boss walks Heenan to ringside then handcuffs him to a rail. The bell then rings for Boss's match. We are told he was handcuffed there for 2 matches and then we see Rick Rude come out to help. Vince talks to them and Rude said he made the remark and says Boss Man wants him. Rude tells Vince to go get the key and says he wants The Boss Man.

The Big Boss Man does a promo. He said Heenan didn't take his final warning. He said he found out how easy it is to be locked up and how hard it is to escape. Boss said he found out Rude is the big mouth behind the weasel. He said he Rude talked about his mama and there will be no escape.

Tugboat vs The Conquistador

CQ = The Conquistador

CQ celebrates after breaking up a lock-up. Vince asks what CQ knocks about sailing. CQ is hiptossed. CQ tries to hit him from behind then is hiptossed again. Tug lariats him over the top rope. CQ is thrown back in from the apron.

Tug corner splashes him then slams him. Tug hits a 2nd rope splash and wins it.

It was a quick squash. I don't know who was under The Conquistador mask but it felt like it was not one of the usual jobbers for some reason.

Tug gets on the mic after. He says he knows Earthquake is out there with Hart and Bravo. He said he has someone beside him too and it's Hulk Hogan.

Hulk Hogan then comes out, making his first Superstars appearance since Summerslam. Hulk rips his shirt and does poses with Tugboat. Well, that was pointless.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

They talk about the 10/6/1990 Boston Garden show. Ted Dibiase does a promo with Sapphire and Virgil. He says it must have been a pitiful sight to see Dusty chase his limo. Ted says Dusty won't chase his limo down the street, he will chase his money when it's all said and done. Ted said Sapphire realized she will be wealthier than she can imagine for the rest of her life with him.

Superfly Jimmy Snuka does a promo. He said he knows Wardlow likes to work out and get in shape. Snuka says he likes to do that too then makes noises. A real all-time great promo here.

Power and Glory vs Mark Thomas and Rico Federico

No music for Power and Glory here. I really liked their theme too. Rico's name is great. Marty Jannetty does an inset promo. He said P&G failed to put them out of wrestling. He said they started a war that The Rockers will finish their way.

Mark is jacked and poses. Vince says he looks good. Herc knuckle locks him and hits knees to the gut. Herc poses then bangs Mark's head off of Roma's foot. Roma pounds on Mark then powerslams him. Roma hits shots on Rico. Herc boots Rico in the corner then foot chokes him.

Herc lariats Rico then Rico takes a powerplex. Roma gets the win with a foot on the chest.

It was a quick squash here. The jobbers got nothing in but some poses.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

They talk about the WWF Warehouse sale and then the 10/6/1990 Boston Garden show. The Hart Foundation do a promo. Bret says it took a long time to regain the tag titles and says it will be a different story when Hart steps in the ring with them. Neidhart says it's fine if they want to bring the guitars and megaphone, but says that's no good if they want the tag titles.

Dino Bravo and Jimmy Hart do an inset promo. They talk about Tito Santana's credentials. Jimmy says it's the year of Dino Bravo though. Dino says Tito never gives up but he said he will step all over his pride and crush him if he doesn't give up. He says to forget his flying burrito as he's going down to the suplex 1-2-3.

Rick Rude vs Glen Ruth

Rude does his usual pre-match lines. Rude eye rakes and backbreakers Glen. Glen is sent hard into the buckles and takes a big bump. Heenan laughs at it. Rude then hits a rude awakening and gets the win.

It was just a quick squash with Glen getting nothing in. This went a little over a minute.

Bobby Heenan and Rick Rude get on the mic after. Heenan asks Rude if he's ready to make the ladies happy. Heenan said his staff was looking for the right girl in the arena. He said there's nothing here but a bunch of ugly dogs. Heenan then brings up Boss Man's mom. He calls her ugly and old. He said as long as Rude tells him what to say, he can say anything he wants about Boss Man's mom and these people. Rude questions if all of the women here are dog faced. Heenan said they have an IQ of 3, are tattooed and are ugly women, but not as ugly as Boss Man's mom. Rude says no one is hideous as Boss Man's mom. Rude said nobody in this building is worthy of his ravishing lips.

The Brother Love Show

Rick Martel is spraying Arrogance on the set again. He said Arrogance is going where no other fragrance has gone before. He calls it pure liquid sex appeal. He said great men smell great. Love says his guest is a believer who used to be a doubter. He said he now believes that everybody has a price for The Million Dollar Man. He said he used to be managed by Sweet Sapphire and says it's Dusty Rhodes.

Dusty Rhodes comes out. Dusty has red polka-dots with black cowboy gear on. Love calls him "Brother Believer". He says he believes in honesty, integrity and togetherness.  He says he's believes he's gonna kick Ted Dibiase's butt. and says he believes in the American Dream, baby.

Sgt. Slaughter vs Sonny Blaze

General Adnan is here with Sarge. Nikolai Volkoff does an inset promo. He said Sarge is a disgrace. Sarge clubs on Blaze then back elbows him. Sarge stomps him then hits a back body drop. Sarge drops Blaze's throat over the top rope then lariats him. Sarge pulls him up on the pin attempt and hits short arm lariats. Sarge then taps him out with the atomic noogie.

You would have to be crazy to put Sarge in the Mania main event at this point. He's slow, he tripped over himself here and he has the worst finisher ever. This wasn't good.

The Bushwhackers vs Pez Whatley and Scott Colantonio

The Orient Express do an inset promo. Mr. Fuji said the BW's don't know what they are thinking about. He said his Express will get him and they won't like it. Butch nails Pez in the gut and bangs his head off the buckle. Pez fights back on Luke, doing an eye rake. Scott and Luke both drop down then Pez and Scott run into each other. Scott takes a battering ram and a double gutbuster. Butch then pins Scott.

I was surprised by the double drop down spot here but other than that, it was a quick squash.

Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper say they can't hear each other. Vince says there's something wrong with the headsets. Piper then starts doing the Bushwhacker walk and the headsets starting walking.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

More hype for the upcoming Boston Garden show. Rhythm and Blues do a promo. Greg says it will be an easy as 1-2-3 and says The Hart's will be the shortest lived champs of all time. Honky says Bret don't dance and Anvil can't rock and roll. Honky says Bret and Anvil are afraid.

Tugboat does a promo. He said Earthquake thought he took him out of wrestling but he's bigger and stronger than ever. Tug says the only time a tugboat goes into reverse is when you put it into reverse. He says tugboats are all engine and a floating mass of steel. He said Quake better be ready to be pushed and shoved.

Vince and Piper close the show as usual. They say there is a wrestler named Battle Kat who will join us next week. Piper says Battle Kat better be like a cat because you need 9 lives in the WWF.

Overall thoughts: Not the WWF's greatest work here. Sgt. Slaughter is just not working at all. The Heenan/Rude/Bossman stuff is what it is and The Ultimate Warrior was nowhere to be found here. Hulk came out to pose with Tugboat and then left and they are continuing the Rhodes/Dibiase feud. I wouldn't recommend this one.

Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling 4/14/2024

Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling 4/14/2024

The last show with new matches is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/03/southern-illinois-championship_31.html

Drew Ebenhouse and Sean Vincent are on commentary. Steve Fender defends the SICW Central States Title and the AIWF National Title against Gil Rogers in the main. Sean says Gil can't handle the champ.

Mauler McDarby vs Jason Breed

Shawn Santel is with MM. MM backs off on the lock-up. JB pushes him over then side headlocks him. JB side headlock takeovers him and MM rolls him up for 2. MM headscissors him and JB kips up and out. JB headlock takeovers him. The ref breaks them up in the corner and MM hits him over top the ref. MM rakes JB's face on the ropes.

MM chinlocks JB then elbow drops him. MM's partner distracts the ref and JB hits shots on him. MM hits JB with a loaded thumb and then sticks it into his throat. JB flies at him but I don't think he hit him. JB goes for a fallaway slam but MM's partner trips him. MM then picks up the win as JB's foot is held down.

JB then takes a 2v1 and Kenny Kingston makes the save.

It wasn't the best match here as they missed on a move here and the loaded thumb spot was a bit hard to see.

Drew and Sean talk about the planned Top Guns vs Eh Team tag title match. Sean Vincent got hurt and Ax Allwardt took Sean's place against The Top Guns. Sean said Canadian pilates are more dangerous than American pilates and he hyper-extended his knee doing it.

SICW Tag Titles - The Top Guns (Joey Vinetti and Brandon Baretta) vs Glenn Williams and Ax Allwardt

Ax Allwardt is filling in for Sean Vincent here. We join this at the 10 minute mark. Glen poses then sleepers Baretta. Brandon gets out and snapmares him then cannonballs him. Brandon lariats and back elbows Glenn. They hit each other at the same time and both go down.

Glenn uppercuts Brandon then uranages him for 2. Brandon hits chops and punches on Glenn. Joey jumps off of Brandon's back and sunset flips Glenn for the win.

We really didn't see much of this so there's no rating. We didn't even get to see Ax get in sadly.

The Top Guns are interviewed. Brandon said him and Joey proved they were the best tag team in SICW with their tag title win. Brandon wishes Sean a speedy recovery so they can defend against the true Eh Team. Joey says it feels like they have an aura now as tag champs. He said they didn't have a plan for Ax, but have to be prepared for anyone and everyone.

They talk about defending against The Top Guns on May 4th.  Brandon said it's an all out war every single time against them. They said they are running it back one and final time and will show why the titles remain around their waists. Joey says we're ready.

Steve Fender talks about defending his titles against Gil Rogers. Steve talks about getting a match with Greg Anthony, which he wanted for a while. He said it's for Greg's AIWF World Title. Drew tells him the match is for the AIWF National Champ, not Steve directly. He said Steve may not have the title by then in order to get that shot. Steve said if he has to beat one more person to get Greg Anthony, then he's gonna do it. He said he hopes Gil Rogers is on his a-game tonight. He says he's on his.

Bryce Cawvey vs Shogun

BC wristlocks him then dropkicks him out of it. BC splashes him in the corner then hiptosses him. BC hammerlocks him then walks up the buckles and on the ropes with a dropkick. Shogun hits machine gun chops. BC suplexes him three times in a row. Bryce spin kicks him but I'm not sure it hit. Bryce then gets the win.

Shogun's a jobber and wasn't treated seriously here. Bryce wasn't real impressive in the win.

Gil Rogers is interviewed. He says he's excited to fight Steve Fender tonight in a title match and will be in the Bruise Brody Memorial Battle Royale. He said he gets to wrestle Greg Anthony as well if he wins against Steve. Gil says things are lining up for Gil. He says he will do his best to win some championships for Gil's army tonight.

Manny Fernandez was interviewed for Promoter's Corner this week.

SICW Central States Title/AIWF National Heavyweight Title - Steve Fender vs Gil Rogers

Gil shoulders him over then headlock takeovers him twice. They then run the spot again. Gil hits some shots, avoids Steve in the corner and rolls him up. Gil headlock takeovers him. Gil misses a dropkick and gets kicked.

Gil gets his head banged off the buckles then is chopped. Steve kicks him in the back. Steve hits him in the gut then Gil abdominal stretches him. Steve knees him in the gut. Steve hits knees to the head and urakens him. Gil hits uppercuts then dropkicks him. Gil double underhook suplexes him then monkey flips him.

Steve escapes an irish whip then Gil bulldogs him. Gil goes up top for a crossbody and Steve rolls backwards out of it to pin him.

Gil had a nice comeback here and I did like the finish. We don't see a ton of top rope moves in this promotion so in situations like this where you do, it means more. I liked that we got to see a double title match here as it felt important and was a nice treat.

Overall thoughts: It was a different type of SICW show than usual here with no Lucky P. Larson, Stephen E, Ron Powers or others. It was nice to see a double title match in the main but it wasn't one of SICW's strongest episodes. I wouldn't recommend this one.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 9/22/1990

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 9/22/1990

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-9151990.html

Vince McMahon says Piper is joining him in Candyland and can sweet talk his way in or out of anything. He says he knows the truth of why Warrior ran from Sherri after she slapped him. Piper says Warrior was looking for Mr. Goodbar, as all of the people around ringside would snicker. Piper then explains this as a chocolate pun.

Demolition vs Ron Cumberledge, Mike Morgan and Ross Lindsey

Ross Lindsey is Ross Hart, Bret Hart's brother. Ax clubs on Ross to start then throws him out. Crush clubs on Ross outside then gorilla presses him over the top rope and into the ring. Mike is lariated by Ax then is double axe handled by Smash. Demolition do an inset promo. Ax says the LOD is in the middle of a hornet's nest. Smash asks if LOD is willing to pay the price for costing them their belts.

Smash drops down then Ax lariats Mike. Crush top tope double axe handles Mike's back then hits a nice dropkick. Ron comes in and takes a nodowa otoshi. Smash lariats Ron then stun guns him. Crush hits the demolition decapitation on Ron and picks up the win.

It was a quick squash here with Demolition getting the win as expected. Crush's dropkick was nice here.

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

Gene talks about the Sherri/Ultimate Warrior incident. He says Warrior would never lay a finger on a woman. We see Warrior run off after Macho after. He grabs and throws down someone then knocks down drapes. He then pounds on jobbers and throws Duane Gill into rails. Warrior knocks over boxes then flips a stretcher. Warrior flips a table looking for Savage. He then goes up to Jim Brunzell, asking where Macho is. He punches Brunzell and bangs his head off the wall then knocks down a camera man.

I'm really surprised they aired this as it made Warrior look bad.

Macho King Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri do a promo. Macho says if you look in the right place, he's not really hard to find at all.

Akeem vs Sonny Blaze

We see fans try to do Akeem's dance. Piper compares Akeem's dance to Dusty Rhodes' dance. Slick and Akeem do an inset promo. Slick asks who Saba Simba is. He says he's an imposter. Akeem says he's the only real African around here and says bring it on brother.

Akeem elbows Sonny's neck then Akeem slams him. Akeem elbow drops him then does a big splash for the win.

It was a real quick squash here with Akeem probably doing less than 10 things.

Akeem dances after and Piper says "that's rhythm, huh?".

Nikolai Volkoff vs "Iron" Mike Sharpe

Mike gets some quick shots on him. Nik cartwheels off the ropes and does a bad spin kick to the gut. Nik boots him then knees him in the gut. Nik rolling sentons him. They do an inset with the fans talking about Nik. Mike fights back with chops then Nik hits punches and headbutts him the corner.

Nik throws him chest first into the ropes and clobbers him with a lariat to the back of the neck.

This was just a quick one here but Mike got a good bit of offense in before being put down. Nik's lariat to the back was stiff.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

October 6, 1990 is the next Boston Garden show. The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith will be in action in his return. Rhythm and Blues do a promo. Greg says they are one hit away from being the new tag champs. Jimmy Hart says no one knows more about The Hart's than them. Honky says The Hart's will get beat. He says R&B is sweeping the nation. He said the Rhythm and Blues Tour of 1990 can't be stopped. He said they got the gold, the platinum, rhythm and blues and now they need the tag titles around their waists.

Tito Santana does a promo. He said you go against the best every time in the WWF. He said Dino is considered one of the strongest men in the world but he wants him to show him what he can do wrestling wise. He says he will show him what a wrestler is all about.

Earthquake vs Brian Costello

Quake nearly knocks Fink over while running around. Quake clubs Brian's back then elbows his neck. Quake bangs Brian's head off the buckles then throws him out to the floor. Quake hits a powerslam then elbow drops him. Quake jumps around with his tremors then hits the butt drop. Quake then wins it.

This was a total squash with Brian getting nothing in.

Quake hits more butt drops after as the stretcher is pulled out.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

There's a WWF Warehouse sale on September 30th, 1990. He said all kinds of merch will be available and various wrestlers will be there.

They then talk about the 10/6/90 Boston Garden show. Jimmy Hart says Tugboat has been salvaged and put back together. Quake says there will always be a weak part of him and it will be in his chest. Quake says he hears Tug wants revenge. He says he's not running from him. He says anytime, anywhere, he's got him.

The Hart Foundation do a promo. They say Rhythm and Blues gotta come get the belts if they want them. Jim said when you are coming against The Hart Foundation, you are going against the best in the world.

Marty Jannetty vs Black Bart

They advertised The Rockers would be in action here last week, not just Marty. Shawn comes out on crutches.

Bart backs up Marty and hits shots on the ropes. Marty hits nice dropkicks and Bart begs off. Power and Glory do an inset promo. They are laughing. They say one Rocker down, one to go. Marty hiptosses Bart and Bart backs off. Bart punches and eye rakes Marty.

Marty hiptosses him then does a flying headscissors. Marty back elbows him then hits a slam. Marty top rope fist drops Bart and wins it.

It was short. Marty looked good here with his flying and Bart knew how to work with him here.

The Brother Love Show

Vince says he hopes Love doesn't make it to Wrestlemania. Rick Martel sprays Arrogance. Love says he loves it. Rick says Arrogance is a way of life and said who needs confidence when you can have arrogance instead? Love thanks Sgt Slaughter for the medal he gave him at Summerslam. He says it's a great honor and then brings him out.

Sarge tells Love looks fantastic with the medal. He tells him to keep up the good work. Sarge said he's been saying the people need a leader and someone to tell them what to do. He said he's the man that can do that. He said he will tell you when to get up, eat and go back to sleep. He said he will say when to breathe. Sarge said he needs a leader too and needs someone to take orders from.

Sarge says there's always a chain of command. He then says he will introduce someone who he respects and takes orders from. He says it's a great military mind from a country of great military power - Iraq. He says on your feet for General Adnan.

General Adnan comes out. Piper says this is ridiculous and garbage. Sarge salutes Adnan. Love is shocked and and said he resembles Saddam Hussein. Sarge said we now have the two greatest minds and leaders of all time. Adnan talks in his language. Sarge translates and says together they will kick Voloff's butt and that's an order.

It was a pretty weird angle. Sarge was always pro-USA up to this point and it's hard to believe he'd suddenly come under Iraqi influence.

The Texas Tornado vs Barry O

They lock up and Barry is pushed back. Tornado trips him and elbow drops his leg. They say Barry calls himself The High Roller and says he's from Vegas where there's lots of high rollers. Tornado slams and hits armdrags on Barry. Bobby Heenan and Mr. Perfect do an inset promo. Perfect said Tornado stole the IC Title. He said the weather is changing and Perfect is coming back to take the IC title back.

Barry hits punches then gets punched back. Tornado hits knees to the gut then does a discus punch for the win.

It was a quick squash here. It was nice to see Barry O get some push here with them talking about his gimmick.

We see Ted Dibiase having his money ironed by Sapphire at a laundromat. He says the money is pocket change and talks about Dusty's humiliation. He said Sapphire is his now and says Sapphire is ironing the money he used to buy her. He said everybody has a price for The Million Dollar Money. Piper calls it laundering money.

Rhythm and Blues vs Duane Gill and Barry Hardy

Honky and Greg dance. The Hart Foundation do an inset. Jim says they want something and The Hart's got it. Bret said they would take on everyone and want to prove that they are the best. Barry hammerlocks Greg, who is wearing blue.  Greg throws him down by the arm and hits a big chop.

Honky back elbows Barry then fist drops him. Greg chops Barry. They say Gill is Barry's brother. Honky nails Gill from behind then Greg stomps Gill. Greg hits a double underhook suplex then Gill takes a double back elbow. Gill takes a nasty double backdrop and is pinned.

It was a quick squash here. Greg looked so weird in blue. Gill took a pretty good whooping.

Rhythm and Blues sing Hunka Hunka Honky Love after.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

They hype the 10/6/90 Boston Garden show. We see clips of Ted Dibiase's and Dusty Rhodes' confrontation from Summerslam 1990, which we usually don't see in these things. Dusty Rhodes does a promo. He said the preaching is over between them. He said Ted got the first jab in but says all of us can't be bought. He said it's time to start paying the dues. He says he will be all over him.

Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper close the show and hype up next week's show. Vince says Tugboat will have a big surprise for us next week. Piper says we should take Slaughter, tie him to a tank, take him to Baghdad and use Adnan's headcover as a bodybag for the both of them.

Overall thoughts: The big news here is Sgt. Slaughter gaining General Adnan as his manager. I imagine fans seeing this live must have been real surprised. That was rather important as it plays a big role for the title scene. There wasn't a ton else here. There was more focus on Dusty/Dibiase, the beginning of a Simba/Akeem feud which I don't know how much we will see of and more push for The Hart Foundation vs Rhythm and Blues. As usual, it was all squashes so I wouldn't recommend it though I did enjoy it.

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 9/15/1990

WWF Superstars of Wrestling 9/15/1990

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-981990.html

We're in Hershey, PA, which they call Chocolate Town. Vince says Piper is a man who never sugarcoats anything. Vince gives him a giant Hershey's Kiss. Piper said he doesn't kiss on the first date, he bites.

The Hart Foundation vs The Brooklyn Brawler and Paul Perez

Bret gives his glasses to a kid as usual. Rhythm and Blues do an inset promo. Jimmy Hart says no one knows the Hart's as well as him. Greg says they will walk in and take the belts. Honky said it's time for Rhymthm and Blues to have another big hit.

Bret side headlocks Brawler then hiptosses him. Bret hits shots on Brawler. Brawler misses a corner charge and goes into the post. Brawler's head is banged off of Jim's foot. Jim hiptosses him then slams Paul (who is wearing some very colorful striped tights). Paul is dropped throat first on the top rope then Bret 2nd rope elbow drops him. Paul then takes a hart attack and is pinned.

It was a quick squash here. The Hart's had a lot of white on their gear today and won with ease as expected.

WWF Update with Mean Gene Okerlund

Gene talks about Sherri giving Warrior a contract and shows clips from that. Macho King Randy Savage and Sherri do a promo. Macho says Warrior got slapped by Sherri and did nothing about it. Macho says Warrior was backed down by a woman. Macho says he doesn't hide behind any woman's skirt.

The Warlord vs Mike Pocari

Mike fought Bad News Brown last week and gets Warlord this week. Piper wonders how Warrior would ask for a date, mocking him and saying he'd talk about lightning and thunder. Vince says Warrior respects women in general and did nothing because of it. Piper said he would have decked Sherri.

War boots Mike in the gut then flying shoulders Mike. War slams Mike then hits a nice fist drop. Piper says War needs a veterinarian, not a doctor. War hits a nice gutwrench suplex then he clubs Mike's back. Mike is thrown hard into the buckles then War lariats him. War running powerslams Mike and gets the pin.

It was a quick squash as expected here. Warlord had a nice fist drop and gutwrench suplex here. Slick talked a bunch of trash during this.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

There's a show at The Boston Garden tonight. There's a coin toss to decide which Power and Glory member fights Marty Jannetty. Sgt. Slaughter does a promo on Nikolai Volkoff. He calls Nik a slime and maggot. He said America opened it's arms and heart to Nik. Sarge said Nik then tried to embarrass him. Sarge calls Nik a pinko commie and says he will defeat him.

Marty Jannetty does a promo. He asks what the problem is with Power and Glory. He asks if it's a confidence issue and says they are running scared. Marty says one of the Power and Glory members will go down in a blaze of glory tonight.

Tugboat vs Bob Bradley

Bob's looking jacked today. Bob jumps on Tug from behind and hits some shots. Tug is choked over the top rope then Bob bites him. Bob tries to shoulder and crossbody him but just gets backbreakered. Bob then rolls out. Earthquake, Jimmy Hart and Dino Bravo do an inset promo. Bravo said it's not a question of how Tug looks now, but how he will look when they push him into Davy Jones' Locker.

Tug throws Bob in from the apron then misses an elbow drop. Bob backflips and comes off the ropes with an elbow drop. Bob chinlocks him then Tug hits a corner splash. Tug slams Bob then 2nd rope splashes Bob. Tug gets the win.

It was a decent squash here with Bob getting a little in before being put down. Tug's splash off the ropes was nice here. They said Tugboat's horn sound is really catching on.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

There's a show at The Boston Garden tonight. Demolition do a promo on Legion of Doom and Ultimate Warrior. Ax says LOD cost them their belts and said they are coming for them. Crush said LOD took what was theirs. They said they have a score to settle and will take care of them Demolition style. Smash says The Hart Foundation didn't really beat them and paid the LOD to come down. Smash says they will break their stinkin' teeth in.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan does a promo. He said he's tired and iritable. He said he doesn't want to hear Rude complain about what happened at Summerslam. He said he's 6'3, 290lbs coming at him. He said he's not out there to shake his body but to beat Rude up. He said he's going to come down stompin', snortin' and coming after him.

Mr. Perfect vs Jim McPherson

Perfect and Heenan do not look like they are in a good mood. Jim got beat by Rhythm and Blues last week.

Perfect slaps Jim and grabs him by the chin. Jim slaps his hand away and gets slapped. Jim hits a hiptoss then is tripped. Perfect drops down on Jim's knee. Piper said Texas Tornado took Jim by storm. Perfect grabs Jim by the mouth and calls him Tornado, saying he's coming for the belt.

Perfect chops Jim then toe holds him. Perfect tries to make Jim kick himself in the head with his own foot. Perfect calls out Texas Tornado then hits a perfectplex to win it.

This was all about having Perfect call out Texas Tornado here. Jim got embarrassed here en route to his loss.

Heenan helps up Jim after then Perfect lariats Jim over. Perfect then walks on Jim.

The Brother Love Show

Rick Martel is on set and is spraying Arrogance. Rick says Arrogance isn't a right, it's a privilege and Love deserves the best.

Love brings out The Legion of Doom, saying they were responsible for Demolition losing the tag titles. Hawk says someone sprayed something out here that smells like something he did. Hawk says he's not Love's brother and he'd be dead if he were. Hawk talks but the show clips from Summerslam and we can't hear him.

Love tells Animal they are Demolition imposters. Animal says Love doesn't tell them nothing. Animal says they hide in the shadows of nobody. He asks what kind of example Demolition is setting for people beating up people 3v2. Animals says he hopes they are good at that because that's the way they like it. He said they want Demolition. Hawk says when they get in the ring with Demolition, they know one thing - "oh what a rush".

Ted Dibiase vs Ross Lindsey

Ross Lindsey is Ross Hart, Bret and Owen's brother. Sapphire and Virgil are with Dibiase. Sapphire's carrying Dibiase's Wrestling Buddy toy.

Ross side headlocks Ted then is tripped. Ross wristlocks him. Ted reverses it then side headlocks him. Ted shoulders him over then Ross backrolls him for 2. Ross dropkicks Ted then Ted rolls out. Ted blocks Ross' monkey flip then hit fist drops. Ted powerslams Ross then puts him in the million dollar dream. Ross is out and Ted picks up the win.

This was a quick one here and it was neat to see another Hart brother, though they don't mention it.

Ted puts money in the mouth of Ross after.

They say Shawn Michaels is still recovering from knee surgery thanks to Power and Glory and Summerslam.

Saba Simba vs Chris Duffy

Saba Simba is Tony Atlas. Roddy Piper immediately points this out and asks who he is trying to fool. Vince said Tony legally changed his name and Piper says it's ridiculous. He says Tony looks like a fool. Saba dances and Piper says it's him walking on hot coal. Duffy is coming off a loss to Jim Duggan two weeks ago.

Duffy hits Saba from behind and eye rakes him. Duffy boots him in the gut then Saba stomps the ring. Saba suplexes him then back elbows him. Saba samoan drops him with some stomp dancing and wins it. Saba then dances after.

This was a disaster. Piper immediately said Saba was Tony Atlas, defeating the whole purpose of the gimmick. Saba's dances were too over the top here and the outfit just looked silly. Saba also didn't seem comfortable wrestling in bare feet.

I thought about how to do this better and I think I would eliminate the dancing, the bare feet, the headdress and I would also have someone else other than Tony doing it. Tony just looked uncomfortable and humiliated. I would maybe give the person some longer tights as well and I think it would have looked better.

The Orient Express vs George Skaaland and Jim Powers

Jim drops down, Tanaka goes over him then gets slammed. Jim gets distracted and gets hit. Tanaka shoulders him over then Jim hits hiptosses. Jim armwringers Tanaka then George keeps the hold on. Tanaka nails George then Sato jumping boots George.

Sato snapmares George then George takes a double chop on the neck. The Bushwhackers do an inset promo. They said Mr. Fuji is worried about The Express losing face but Butch says they won't have any faces left to worry about when they are done with them.

Tanaka jumping headbutts George then Sato boots him off the 2nd rope. Tanaka twisting flying forearms George then Sato side kicks George. Sato sit out powerbombs George and picks up the win.

I thought George did a good job taking his lumps here against The Express.

WWF Event Center with Sean Mooney

More talk about the show at The Boston Garden tonight. The LOD say them and Warrior are gunning for Demolition. Hawk says Demolition can jump off a bridge or get hit by a mack truck to avoid them. Animal says Demolition aren't the same after losing their titles. Animal asks if they are losing their edge. He says he hopes they are mad and angry. The Ultimate Warrior then appears from under LOD. Warrior says Demolition has never been the same and said they walked close to the edge and are now hanging off the edge. Warrior says they will kick them off the edge deep into the darkness. He says they will feel nothing but fear.

Warrior popping out from below was unintentionally funny.

Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper close the show. They said we will see The Rockers next week and Demolition in a six man tag. Sgt. Slaughter will be on Brother Love.

Sgt. Slaughter does a promo. He said everyone needs someone to tell them what to do. He says he tells us maggots whats to do and says to tune in next week to find out who tells him what to do. Piper asks Slaughter for fries and a chili dog, saying that's the only order Slaughter has ever taken.

Overall thoughts: This was notable for Saba Simba's debut and Ross Hart competing as Ross Lindsey.  I felt it was a little better than last week's show as we have a pretty clear direction of where things are going. Saba's debut was must see for how bad it was. I enjoyed the show but all the matches were squashes and there weren't a lot of angles or anything here. I wouldn't recommend this one.

WOW Women of Wrestling 4/13/2024 Season 4, Episode 31

WOW Women of Wrestling 4/13/2024 Season 4, Episode 31

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/04/wow-women-of-wrestling-462024-season-4.html

David McLane and Nigel Zane are the hosts.

Abilene Maverick comes out and they show clips of her history with The Beast. They say the wrestler Ab has lined up for her title defense will be revealed tonight.

The Beast vs Goldie Collins

Beast has words for Ab on commentary then Goldie boots Beast outside from behind. Goldie stomps her inside then Beast shoulders her over. Beast hits corner lariats then throws her by the hair. Goldie takes a nice bump for it and goes out. Beast dangerously rams her backwards into the post then Beast is sent into the post face first.

Goldie bang Beast's head off the apron then suplexes her inside for 2. Goldie works Beast's arm on the ropes then Beast short arm lariats her. Beast suplexes her then Goldie trips her. Beast hits a spear then Beast sitout powerbombs her. Beast gets the win.

It was okay here with Goldie cheating earlier then Beast making her comeback and destroying Goldie.

Ab waves at Beast after as Beast points at her.

Stephy Slays vs Genesis

Exile is not with Gen today. Gen does a nunchuk demonstration during her entrance.

Gen takes Steph down before it starts and pounds on her. Steph rolls her up into a pin attempt and hits armdrags. Steph flying shoulders her for 2 then hits corner spears. Steph kicks her in the gut from the apron then crossbodies her for 2. Gen uses the ropes to kick her then pulls her neck down over the top rope.

Gen foot chokes her over the bottom rope then chokes her over the top rope with her leg. Gen pulls Steph's arms back then throws her backwards. Gen knee drops her. Steph blocks a spin kick and lariats Gen. Steph hits flying chops then monkey flips her. Gen drives her into the corner then uses the ropes to pin her. Genesis wins.

It was average but okay with clear faces and heels here. Gen used the ropes to win so Steph saved some credibility.

Genesis gets on the mic after and mocks the fans. Ge says she has been with Exile for a long time and put her efforts into this team so they would be WOW tag champs. She said it seems all she has been doing is carrying dead weight. She says she can be better on her own and says this might just be her new Genesis moving forward.

Well, it sucks if its the end of Exile. Not that it's the greatest faction ever but it works.

Santana Garrett and Americana talk in the locker room. Abilene Maverick comes in and said she has papers for her. Santana says it's for a title match but it has Americana's name on it. Americana is surprised.

Chainsaw vs Chantilly Chella

We haven't seen a lot of Chainsaw this season which sucks as she's one of my favs. Chella dances her way to the ring and seems hyped up.

Chain throws her off on a waistlock attempt then clubs Chella's back. Chella is thrown out and Chain poses. Chella flips over her using the ropes then dropkicks her.

Chella springboard twisting crossbodies off the ropes and is caught. Chain goes for a chokeslam and is dropkicked. Chella jumps at her, gets caught then has her head banged off the buckles. Chain hits corner spears then foot chokes her.

Chain bangs Chella's head off the buckles then throws her into the corner. Chain chokes her then throws her off the buckles. Chain misses a splash. Chella boots her from the corner then hits a jumping knee and snapmare. Angelica Dante (who is with Chainsaw) grabs Chella's foot. Chella's cutter is blocked and Chain full nelson's her.

Chella breaks the full nelson and somehow Chain kind of hits Dante when she gets pushed into the corner. Chella cutters her and pins her.

The finishing stretch wasn't done too well here and Chain had some issues catching Chella.

Chain grabs Chella after. Foxxy Fierce comes to help Chella then Chainsaw chokeslams both. Holidead comes in and fights with Chain. The lights go out as they fight then Siren the Voodoo Doll nails Holidead with antlers. Chain slams Holidead. Dante and Siren hold Holidead so Chain can splash her.

Siren cuts a promo after. She says she's back, back where she belongs. She said Holidead made her bed and now she lies in it. She said Holidead betrayed her, her sisters and cousins. Siren says if she undoes her mistake, she will be welcome back with open arms. She said if she stays wit those laughing, dancing and smiling idiots, her fate will be the same as theirs.

This was a good promo and it's good to see Siren back. I like this team and it's cool to see Chainsaw get to do some storyline work. I'm not sure Holidead will work out a as a face though.

Ariel Sky goes up to Coach Campanelli. She said all she wanted to do was make her proud. She said she knows Team Spirit is a B-Team but they had something good going. Sky says if she gives her a shot in Top Tier, she will keep working hard for her. Coach tells her that she has to sweeten the pot if she wants to get in her good graces. Coach said if Sky beats her, she can be in Top Tier. If she loses, she has to be their water girl. Sky questions it and Coach said she said she would do anything. Sky agrees and Coach tells her to shut the door on her way out.

I don't get this one. I hope it's some kind of trick or something. It makes Team Spirit look bad after already being ditched like losers. This also obviously doesn't fit what they are doing with Sky.

Americana is nervous about the match tonight. Santana said it's just another match. Ameri tells her she needs her with her tonight. Santana said she will be in the back.

We get some clips of The Dojo Defenders losing last week against Miami's Sweet Heat. They do a promo. They said they never lose, it's only a learning lesson. They said they just got a little taste of what WOW is like and said we will see more of The Dojo Defenders.

GI Jane, The Brat Pack, The Classmaster and BK Rhythm will be on next week's show.

WOW Title - Abilene Maverick (c) vs Americana

Ab hits a knee to the gut and wristlocks her. Ameri flips out of a hiptoss then takes a forearm. Ab goes for a corner spear but is sunset flipped out of the corner. American handspring backflip back elbows her then low crossbodies her while she's seated.

Ab backdrops her then bangs her head off the buckles. Ab rakes Ameri's face on the top rope then Ab foot chokes her. Ab stands on her against the bottom rope. Ab dragon sleepers her and elbows her chest. Ameri elbows her way out then Ameri dropkicks her. Ameri hits a high kick and springboard twisting double axe handles her. Ameri climbs the top rope and Jessie Jones pulls Ameri down. Ameri tries to climb in but can't as Jessie is holding her. Ameri then gets counted out.

Ameri didn't hit all of her offense here clean which hurt things. The finish was lame here, but Jessie and Americana have a long history so it's not out of nowhere.

Santana comes to help out Ameri after. The Beast then comes out and spears Ab. The Beast holds up the title belt after.

Overall thoughts: The finish to the main was lame and I'm not liking Ariel Sky trying to get back with Coach. I hope that's a trick. I like Chainsaw getting to do something here and I like that Siren is back. The Beast isn't one of my favorites, but they are doing a good job with her and Ab, which will likely lead to them fighting again somewhere down the line. I liked the show overall, but some things could have been done better here.
